I’m back! We had a perfect vacation (if you don’t count Jeremy always screaming) in Kearney. The weather when we got there was perfect and stayed that way until we left. We might not have prayed for it specifically; but it was a blessing. We stayed at Fort Kearny for five days. On the way there we saw Josh (having fun with his camp buddies!) and visited our relatives… at a cemetery. Jeremy kept saying; they’re dead. J Emi is interested in our ancestry and went around taking pictures. It was very windy.

After screaming and crying and arguing down the interstate for four hours (could have been much worse; Indiana is going to be a twelve hour drive) we set up camp with our three tents and gazebo. For the whole five days everyone just sped by when they saw us; we had about six campsites all to ourselves. We sure got our exercise walking to the bathroom though; which just happened to be next to all the RV sites and… well, it felt like a mile away from ours.

We had fun visiting the Arch (that was really cool; with great realistic thunder and everything J). We met a cameraman who was waiting for some sailors from the U.S.S. Nebraska to show up for a tour; we saw them walking around and that was pretty cool. So I am going to write the crew of the Nebraska; if I can find an address. And how do you receive mail in a submarine? Hmmm… We also visited a weird art museum (most exhibits as Emily said were entered by a “depressed Catholic”.), Fort Kearny and the Stuhr museum; a re-enactment of the early 1900’s. I really loved that when I was little; but it was still fun when we went again.

So… we had fun. Then we got home and unpacked the van in under two hours! Just kidding- but we actually got things put away where they belong right away since we had guests coming.

Oh dear; and now it’s father’s day. These holidays sneak up on me so quickly! While congratulating my wonderful father in his… wonderful fatherhood, I would also like to remember all those dads so far from home who are doing the most a father ever could for his children; putting his life on the very line to protect their lives and future. No doubt a lot of soldiers will be sitting alone in the sweltering heat, thinking and longing for home and family… so to all you wonderful, deserving fathers; we extend our most heartfelt gratitude for your sacrifices; may you all soon be home, safely and quietly enjoying your families in the freedom you have worked so hard for. You’re the best!

I visited the worldmagblog a little bit ago (you’ll have to go read it yourself… ha ha! :) and really agree with what they said… a lot of fathers aren’t recognized for their hard work to support their families. Today is a hard age to live in for a guy; as liberal woman in their fight for “equality” have knocked down that masculinity that only a man can truly posses… so ladies, just for today, go home and become that devoted, humble, loving, submissive wife for your husband. Even if you work; today, just let him be the man of the house, the provider and protector. For a mother has her role, and the fathers have their role. Thank goodness fatherhood was not left up to the woman to figure out; thank God for men who so perfectly fit role of fatherhood.

So… today my mind just seems blank on poems. So instead I think I’ll just direct dad to this post and give him the kiss he often bestows upon me… and wish everyone a happy and meaningful father’s day!

For the man in my life,
Jennifer

Welcome back. Your trip sounded much like ours. There were six kids in my family, a years apart in age. So vacations were rowdy. On more than one occasion dad would come home from work embarassed because a co-worker would tease him about seeing his car in the grocery store parking lot "rocking and rolling."

By the way, you have been tagged! Check out the tag at my homepage . Take care.
