A day in the life... oh help
Yes, my sister would like you all to know of the dramatic things that happen at our house (normally this would be sarcasm... but yesterday can be an exception). It all starts with the hotdog; poor Wal-Mart. Anyway, we are all sitting there eating hotdogs (don't ask me why junk food just appears when we get sick) and all of the sudden Jonny (5) leans over his plate with his hands on his throat not making a sound. Emi, of course is concentrating on her own things (just joshing you here Em :) and does not notice; I exclaim "he's choking!" now I have her attention. Emi was CPR certified several months ago and takes great pride in her life-saving skills- which have had no opportunity to be exercised... until now. So Emi jumps up, runs around to Jonny, cranks her arm up and whacks him on the back. Well... it worked. And if it hadn't, I don't know what would have. The first thing poor Jonny says is "that hurt" and he begins to cry.
Well, needless to say, a life was saved because of Emi's quick instincts... and I suppose I should quit teasing her now. :)
I had a wonderful idea a little while ago (no really). I am going to make it one of my year goals (yep, add it to the looong list) to interview a soldier from each of these past wars; who's veterans are alive. WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, The Gulf War, and today. Did I miss any? :0 Anyway, wish me luck. Any ideas on good questions?
I believe this month is military appreciation month. Not that this should make any difference in the way we support our troops but it's nice to have a month especially for them. Thank you!!!
On the news lately they've been talking about women in the military and how close to the front lines they should be. I wrote a Navy SEAL several months ago (that was SO exciting!!!) and asked him what he thought of women in the military. Even though I told him of my views of women in combat he still gave me the same answer; that women are a great asset to our military and there are probably some who could withstand what it takes to be SEAL. Now, the first part I do not doubt. Women and men are both great assets to both the business and the military world, just in different ways and roles... but men are the protectors and women are not as strong; it's simply the way God made us. So personally I do have a problem with women in the military. I would LOVE to be in the military- serve my country actively... but most places in the military, as far as I know, send their women into combat. So when I ask a soldier what he thinks and he says "women in the military are just great and we don't know what we would do without them"... I think most guys don't have the guts to tell a lady what he thinks of her sex's role in the military. Shame. It's okay to say you have a problem with people who are weaker and more defenseless then you (not bringing down my sex here- again, it's just a fact) fighting alongside you and taking on the same job as you. ...
I'm done. Need to go do school. Thanks for the comments! It's so nice to be a part of the blogfamily....

wow. you certainly challenge my thoughts. :) thanks for the nice long comment.
I am sorry if I have insulted you with what I said. I was writing quickly and probably should have spent more time and careful thought as to my wording.
Yes, I am sure determination is one of the keys to overcoming the challenges in the military. And as I mentioned before, I would love to be a part of the proud, freedom fighting warriors in our military. It is simply the belief my family has followed that I serve my country in a different way, here at home. I just feel (and this a feeling my father has instilled in me) that women should not be forced into combat or life-threatening situations. I think a lot of reservists do not intend on being sent over (which obviously should be thought of before signing up) so women are often not expecting that. Please, thought, correct me if I'm wrong because military knowlecge does not come naturally to me as a civilian. :)
Need to go... thanks for the comment and insight. Again I am sorry if I have offended anyone; it was not my intention.
I dislike people saying that beacause we are young that we cannot think outside of the box. There are certainly things we do not know because we live at home, but we ought to be able read differant sources and decide about issues for ourselves. Would you say the same thing about us if we were not home schooled? This isn't the first time someone has said something like this to us.
E.D.- Jen's sister.
you make some good points Angel. Thank you again for your insight. And Emi you read my mind (obviously we're sisters :0). I may be young and well protected but do not intend on changing my views on many things regardless of what the world may be like during the college years; especially my views on the military.
I thank God for such patriotic men and women who would give their lives for our country. Regardless of beliefs or living statis; I say thank you to all military personnel.

:) I get your meaning. thank you for clearing that up.
But you still gave the impression that me changing (perhaps changing my views on related these subects) in the future. Of course anything is possible but one thing (and please don't feel I am biting back or anything) will remain solid for me; my faith in God and His word. Right now I am convinced that my parents are the perfect role models for me and as I see that way, and watch them as adults and strive to be just like them when I grow up, I am growing in their education and becoming a women of my parents beliefs. And if my parents have lived 50 years, gone through many experiences and seen the world through that time, and still hold to the same beliefs and views that they do now, then why should my views change any when I see the world or grow; as long as I hold to God's word?
I hope I have not come across as rude. Thank you for your comments and God bless!
