Liberal news media: picking the heroes
On Monday, May 29th CBS’s Kimberly Dozier, along with two other reporters, were seriously wounded by a car bomb. Ms. Dozier has been reporting in Iraq for nearly 3 years. Her story of being caught in the crossfire of a war is also quite similar to that of ABC’s Bob Woodruff, who was critically injured in January of 2006.
Today Ms. Dozier’s dramatic and sobering story was all over the news, as we hear all the details of her critical condition, being treated in Germany. As I sit listening to three different news stations that each speak long about Kimberly’s condition I notice how when it comes to the death or injury of U.S. soldiers, the only coverage given is the number and the cause. Yes, we all feel for Kimberly and her family. But the feelings of deep concern expressed by reporters towards Kimberly’s plight is in strange contrast to the time and feeling expressed in the pains and deaths of soldiers, and I find it unnerving.
Kimberly apparently is being operated on for shrapnel wounds to the head and legs, but otherwise her limbs are, in fact, intact. May I point out here that many, many soldiers have suffered the loss of one or more limbs and are struggling to learn the basics of moving again.
17,869 Solders have been wounded since 2003, and yet it is very rare to see any U.S. soldier receive the concern and coverage that one reporter is getting. Not even that, but Kimberly was simply reporting on the war on Iraq, while these incredible warriors are fighting it.
War is hard. We get that. But if the liberal media has to exalt someone through these hard times, I truly wish it would be the men and women that deserve it.

Well, the Soldiers did vollunteer to fight, possibly get wounded, and possibly die.
The reporter is just there for the story.
