My dwelling place

Today I was flipping through some of my baby photos, and I came across one of Dad holding me... and as I looked at the pose I thought of how it must have felt, as a little child, to be held in my father's warm, protective arms. Little children are vulnerable and are born to sense the loving gentleness in an embrace; those without a pair of outstretched arms grow up to be detached, distant, and often have difficulty searching for comfort in the right places.

And isn't it the same in our spiritual lives? Regardless of our attitudes or oftentimes our attempts to shut out Christ, we daily long for His arms to run to... to hold us, and shut out the chaotic world around us. And what a wonderful promise that He gives to us in Isaiah 40:11;

“He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.”

How comforting to know that he is holding us in His ever-present embrace; even when we are not aware of it. And though God promises to avenge the wicked, His manner towards those who have accepted Him as their heavenly father is completely different. He promises to love us, protect us, and provide for us despite the evils that surround us.

Often this promise of security is mistaken for constant physical blessings in our lives; and when confronted with hardship we become either confused or angry at the God who promised to provide for us. How easy it is lose sight of His love and push Him away, when all along He was carrying us through the hard lessons!

No, our God is not a feminine one. He is strong, mighty, and causes even His closest followers to fall trembling at His voice. As we continue to learn about His character and practice following His lead, let us never lose sight of His unconditionally love, and never ending embrace.

Deut. 33:27

The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

I think Jen has posted about what she thinks of boyfriend/girlfriend relationships before.

I think you need a hug.

Anonymous; I deleted your comment because

1. You have no right to accuse me of being physically involved with my father

2. I have heard it all before, your comments have been faithfully responded to by other commenters, and this conversation does not need to go on, especially when you accuse me of being something I am not; when you do not even know me. You may either keep your comments safe, or take them elsewhere.

Sorry Palm boy! I know how much you enjoy debating with anonymous. But as long as they keep leaving the same accusing, rude comments on my blog, they will be deleted. We have heard it all before, and I am not going to put up with some who accuses me of being something I am not.

My blog is one where others may politely debate topics, but personally attacking is taking things way too far.

For those of you who are wondering what's going on; just take a look at my past comment sections. Anonymous pretty much brings up the same issue in the other comments.

hehe. Anon, I do believe you grew up in a Nazi orphanage. The level of hatred you display twoard parents is disturbing.
Now children, if you will direct your attention twoard the acctually post that is under discussion here, I would like to show you a few things.
1. The age of the two. Jenifer is a young girl who loves her father.
2. Her main thrust is that she felt extreamly safe in her fathers arms.
3. The rest of the post is in a spiritual sense, where we as Christians have security in God.

Aw Jen, you look so cute in that picture! I'm so glad that you enjoy a close father-daughter relationship, just like I do! Your parrellel to God as our Father is really good as well!

Aye Jennifer, quite a perspective ye 'ave. I will however agree to it. Seeing as ye dynamics ye used allowed me to understand the correlation between ye childhood and my relationship with Christ. As for whoever keeps getting deleted, get some class.
Also, my greetings to palm boy

That is a sweet picture. I love to look at the pictures when I was a baby, and my daddy was holding me. I also share a wonderful relationship with my father (and mother for that matter!), and
I hope that it will never change.

Uh, dude.

You've just compleatly lost all the freaken context in the post.

Aside from that, your entire comment makes no sense. Missplaced question marks, I believe.

And why praytell do you care if she does?

Jen, if you delete his last comment, take this one too. Otherwise, it makes no sense. Like my comment above this... :D

Free speech? Course she does. But this is her blog, she makes the rules as to what is appropriate, etc. and you violated them, and have continued to. So your posts got deleted. :)

But she's not stopping you from getting your own blog and posting. :)

Yeah, that'll be the day. If he does though, I'll be a regular attender.
