Beware, America!

Oh God, how can we start to ask
Your blessing on this land?
We are so small; so low and humble
Much like a grain of sand.

We pretend to love and serve you,
And we pray “God-bless this land!”
But upon a glance within our hearts,
It seems more of a command.

We are the “Christian” nation
But that word is not enough…
Lord, you shudder at our titles
As we try to “strut our stuff”.

But really blind is what we are
And foolish what we’ve been
To go to church but once a week
And then return to sin.

We’re blessed with wealth and riches
But we’ve failed to give them back
To You who have provided-
So that there are none who lack.

And even those who struggle
To live a Christian life
Cannot start to imagine
Your angry, rushing strife.

This laziness and blindness
Will not go on forever…
Beware you all who boast yourselves,
For the Lord this world will sever.

Did you write this?

Great poem Jen! You're a really good poet! And what you write about, is sadly true.

It's a really good poem, Jennifer!
And like Anna says, it is very sadly true. :(

I was prepared to throw in a comment like 'that was strikingly negative', but I can't, because it's pretty much true.
