Listen up, America...

The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; in the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forgot God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. Arise, O Lord, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight. Put them in fear O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men.

Psalm 9:15-20

May we once again become an active, God-fearing nation...

Hoo-ah! :) Good verses.

i've been reading your blog, and it is perfectly obvious that you are just parroting what your parents have told you without giving it any sort of thought.

also, catholics do not think the pope is god, and you should do a little research before you make assumptions about other religions.

Alexander Blair said...

Well, if you do a simple search of the main page, you will see the word "parent" only appears once (in a completely different context) and the word "parents" does not appear at all. Just thought I'd throw that in. ;)

Now to the meat: You said Jennifer was truly "parroting" what her parents have told her. Very interesting observation. One very slight problem though...a parrot has no conception of what it is saying...it only repeats what it hears. Now let's look at Jennifer: Does she repeat "facts" without reasons over and over? Now...can you truly say she "parrots" what her parents have told her? ;)

Oh, aren't you a silly little troll...

It's perfectly obvious that you're just parroting what your teachers/professors/idols have told you without giving it any sort of thought.

Hmmm, i HOPE we don't start falling back into that God-fearing crap. You'll realize soon enough young friend, God just doesn't exist.

Patriotic garbage- wow, you have some problems. Like, not being able to accept that some people think differently than you and that's ok. I don't know why you are so up tight over a different opinion. I say it again- we are not isolated. This blog is obvious proof.

Alexander Blair said...

"You'll realize soon enough young friend, God just doesn't exist."

As one who references Satan in your blog name, you don't have much ground to stand upon. :)

"this girl is completely isolated from any ideas other than hers/her parents, which makes it impossible for her to have a truly informed opinion. she has been spoon fed anti-liberal, patriotic garbage, which she swallows without researching the other sides."

OK, have you even READ any of her posts?

Look, let's say that she IS a parrot who has been "spoon fed" her entire life without knowing the other side. Well, why don't you take it upon yourself to defend the other side? THEN - and only then - you can call her "spoon fed" etc.

Alexander Blair said...

(Unless, of course, you have not researched the other side.... :D )

jacob.thrasher said...

You mean you're going to refer to a BLOGGER as being "completely isolated from any ideas other than hers/her parents?" Did you ever think that there are a very wide range of opinions on the internet, many of which she probably reads every day? Did you even think AT ALL before writing that comment?

"she has been spoon fed anti-liberal, patriotic garbage, which she swallows without researching the other sides."

And thus comes the unthinking fallacy that any conservative young person MUST be subject to heavy indoctrination. Obviously, you've lived quite a sheltered life, Erin, for you seem to have never spoken with a homeschooler, or studied their side of things. Any such "researching [of] the other sides" would either yield in you a very different opinion than you now hold, or prove that you have a psychological problem which renders you incapable of rationality.

You have come here spouting nothing but bigotry and stereotypes. Make a valid point, or get lost.

Put up or shut up, as it were.

Thanks to my supporters. You know, the argument brought by "satan's wife" and whoever you are are so... silly, that I do not feel inclined to answer them. To properly address the many issues brought up here would require several posts... and even more bible verses.

There is a God... oh boy, DO NOT get me started on that one!

jacob.thrasher said...

Ah, Troll of Satan... Obviously, we cannot believe that there is a God that created the order and complexity we see in the universe. Instead, there was nothing, and then it exploded!!!

That right there shows you just how rational our troll friend is. I loved how well she backed up her point too...

Sounds like a girl who's lived a very sheltered life. Nice to see you spewing bible verses, and patriotic sentiments, but you seem to attack others that don't believe in God or Christianity. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Americans (and soldiers) that might have different religious values than you.

you seem rather judgmental for having lived a very short and sheltered life.

Alexander Blair said...

Not another one! *decides to think of this like battle drills* :D

And what is wrong with quoting Bible verses? To you, the Bible is only a book. If she was quoting Shakespear, would you complain that she was "spewing" it? Uh-huh. I thought not. :D

Attacking others? Well, if you consider well laid-out arguments to be attacking....then yes, she is attacking. With full CAS and Arty support. :D

Sure, I bet there are soldiers with a different view of things. Does that mean she doesn't have the right to say what she thinks?

*****

Come on, people! If you are going to leave mindless attacks, you only display ignorance! If you want a good, logical debate, so we can find the truth, then please come! I am sure any one of us would be glad to debate with you! But cut out the mindless, ignorant attacks!

anyone who claims that catholics think the pope is god, and wonders why there are so many black people in chicago, and tries to break all opinions up into either "liberal" or "conservative" obviously has very little life experience and is very isolated.

furthermore, i do not believe the bible is "just a book".

Frazzledsister said...

Jen never said that Catholics think the Pope is God. And, why ARE there so many black people in Chicago? You obviously are not "sheltered" so you ought to know. How much "life experience" did you have at fifteen? Most kids spend the first eighteen years of their life sitting at a desk. What do you think of the Bible?
Are you really going to answer my questions?

jacob.thrasher said...

AJ,

Which is more judgmental, the girl who quotes the Bible, or the troll who calls her sheltered and isolated?

Erin,

As much as we all love hearing you repeat yourself, you've done nothing to prove your point.

So since you can't make a valid point...

Get lost.

Bonie/Clyde,

"Preaching to the choir" is a pretty common practice among bloggers. Go check out the Daily Kos for a prime example.

erin is nice said...

here is what she said:
"and I can't understand most Catholics. He is not God and please stop treating him as one!"

jacob.thrasher said...

And here, ladies and gentlemen, we can now see Erin's inability to interpret something so concrete as words on a screen. Either she is perfectly incapable of understanding written language, or she can only argue with someone if she misquotes them first. Either way, logic has no place in her mind.

Jen's point, whether correct or not, was that Catholics over-glorify the Pope, who is merely a man. She in no way claimed that Catholic doctrine believes the Pope to be God incarnate.

The Patriot said...

Um, excuse me? When did I ever mention the Catholics? I don't remember ever saying anything about the pope... but that's just me; why don't YOU tell me what I said?

Ugh.

My point to this post; America has weakened, though I do believe very strongly that we live in a Christian nation. I came upon this wonderful bible verse one morning and decided that America needs to wake up and quit being so proud.

Anonymous said...

I believe in what is recorded in the Bible. Living in poverty and combat for many years, I agree with Jennifer's thoughts in this area. Many soldiers also believe in God and Jesus, regardless of their age. I have heard and joined them in prayer for their fellow men when in danger.

What if we are correct and you who object are wrong?

Anonymous said...

Correct, America has weakened, and its all due to George W. Bush in the past five years.

Although, you could also blame the following individuals (all Republicans, all call themselves Christians, btw)

Dick Cheney
Scooter LIbby
Karl Rove
Tom DeLay
Condi Rice
Tom Coburn
Rick Santorum

Alexander Blair said...

Indeed you are right! After all, if it weren't for President Bush, the terrorists would never have attacked us on 9/11. The government would have tripled in size, and we would be paying a mere 50% tax to keep it running and pay off the deficit. We would then end up with a surplus of $19.26, which would then be appropriated by a Democratic Congress towards helping children by providing them with )mandatory) daycare centers, where they would have 126" LCD TVs (taken from those evil, rich, Republicans). Saddam would have become peaceful, and laid down his WMDs (which he didn't have), and North Korea would unite peacefully with South Korea, sending half-a-million of their troops to provide "security" for the next election in the new Democratic Liberated People's Republic of Korea." And the Palestinians would lay down their arms and turn to peace and the world would all be united under the UN and we would all live happily ever after!

Anonymous said...

"Well at least it hasn't weakened half as much as when Clinton was in office. You liberals have absolutely no proof, so you pop on attack the president and leave without explaining your attacks."

hahahahahahahahahaha - awesome!!! Nothing I love more than when you Republicans blame the world on Clinton. "oh yeah, well at least it wasn't AS BAD"

Seriously, a serious question? Does it bother you AT ALL that the entire Republican leadership is under investigation and being indicted. Seriously, just TRY to take off your "i'm a Republican" blinders and think for a minute. The Senate majority leader, the House majority leader, andn the entire White House staff is under investigation for various types of fraud. This has NOTHING to do with Bill Clinton.

Jen, come on - you're a bright girl, you MUST read these articles. Care to comment?

jacob.thrasher said...

"Does it bother you AT ALL that the entire Republican leadership is under investigation and being indicted."

Sure it bothers me, but do you realize how easy it is to investigate and indict someone? I could probably get YOU indicted for fraud, but that doesn't mean you're guilty.

No, AJ, no one is conversing - a conversation requires that people are asking questions and listening to the other side. Most people are simply attacking Jen for believing the Bible or attacking Republicans and the Republican government for...whatever they think Republicans did, and they're not really interested in discussing their views.

Two examples:

Erin said "you are just parroting what your parents have told you without giving it any sort of thought"

Bride of Satan said "You'll realize soon enough young friend, God just doesn't exist"

They give no arguments to back themselves up, but throw out blanket, judgmental statements.

Hey Jen - I've been reading your blog for a while and I really like it!

you don't know how to answer the questions, so you delete them. that's a real sign of maturity. congratulations.

keep reading your Bible....thankfully, you can't really affect our country. you'll certainly never do anything other than marry some man, and then submit to all his ideas.

keep spewing your christian hate.

It's too late, AJ. You've already discredited yourself, proving to be more judgmental than the one you attack for being judgmental. I'm glad that you're here to lecture us on maturity, oh great and venerable one; sounds like you're a real bastion of maturity yourself.

You, like Erin and Bride of Satan, have proven to be seriously impaired. It's not difficult to engage in rational conversation, and yet you haven't done it yet. Somehow, in the obviously impaired workings of your mind, you view the posting of a Bible verse as being more hateful than seeking out a 15 year old girl and telling her how judgmental and hateful you (in your vast wisdom) find her to be. This signals some sort of mental disability, and I would recommend that you seek help immediately.

And also, get out of here. You have contributed nothing, for we are not psychology students and we don't need a case of insanity to study. You're incapable of rational discourse, so get lost; you're giving liberals a bad name.

Anonymous said...

"Why are there so many black people in chicago?"

What kind of question is that? Why are there so many white people in Nebraska? Why are there so many white people in North Dakota?

Have you never interacted with black people before? Because guess what, we're all the same damn thing inside, just because our skin color is different, why do you judge us based on that?

jacob.thrasher said...

"Have you never interacted with black people before? Because guess what, we're all the same [ahem] thing inside, just because our skin color is different, why do you judge us based on that?"

Surely you are merely parodying someone, cowardly anon... It is impossible to rationally infer Jen's feelings about what people are "on the inside" from a simple question regarding demographics.

But then, I no longer expect rationality from the cowardly trolls who come here...

Frazzledsister said...

Why Jen dosen't answer all your comments: First, because she's not isolated! She's out in the world, making a impact for the Lord. She's busy. And second, she has, as you can see, gotten MANY comments from you stupid people which are basically just insulting her, and what's the use of answering them? You are not going to listen. And third, all these other smart guys like MVB and Neo are doing a fine job dealing with you.

jacob.thrasher said...

Yes thanks, lol.

Of course, I do feel sorta bad picking on people who obviously lack certain higher mental capacities... If they just weren't so arrogant, I could leave them alone...

Great job backing up your point of view, Anon. A hateful, baseless comment like that does nothing but prove your own stupidity. If you're gonna comment here, at least pop a few Zoloft first, so you can function like the rest of humanity.

I usually challenge someone to make a valid point before I tell them to get lost. But I don't think you can.

Go crawl back under your rock.

Hmm... We might disagree on that point... MVB blames trolls' ignorance on God, I blame trolls' ignorance on... well, ignorance.

Either way, the outcome is the same... an ignorant individual, spewing ignorance, fully assured of the perfection of their ignorant ways. Arrogance at its ugliest.

If Kelly's was an honest question, however, then it deserves an honest answer, though at this hour (11:30 p.m. here) I can't write one.

You know, I think most of these trolls simply call Jen "sheltered" because they're jealous. They obviously didn't receive a quality education like she has, and after 12 years of being sheltered in a classroom where they didn't have to interact with anyone except others their age, they just don't know how to cope with someone who is so well-adjusted.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, I've had enough. It's time for Neo's Conversation Recap!

AXIS OF TROLLS: You're sheltered and thoughtlessly parroting what your parents have told you... Oh yeah, and God isn't real!

ALLIED BLOGGING BODYGUARDS: A parrot has no conception of what it is saying...it only repeats what it hears. Now let's look at Jennifer: Does she repeat "facts" without reasons over and over? Now...can you truly say she "parrots" what her parents have told her?

Furthermore, Jen is a blogger, and as such, she is exposed to far more opinions daily than you ever receive in your hole at the Democratic Underground.

Also, how can she be so isolated if she's SO BUSY? Do you guys really have this much trouble with logic? Is it really so hard for you to make a valid point? Right now it seems that you're the sheltered ones... What do you have to say for yourselves?

AXIS OF TROLLS: She's judgmental and sheltered! See? She spews BIBLE VERSES AND CHRISTIAN HATE!!! SHE'S ATTACKING OTHERS!!!

Oh yeah, and she said "and I can't understand most Catholics. He is not God and please stop treating him as one!" SHE THINKS CATHOLICS THINK THE POPE IS GOD! QUACK QUACK! SOMEBODY PASS ME MY PROZAC!!!

ALLIED BLOGGING BODYGUARDS: We're still waiting for you to make a point, and actually respond to what we said.

Attacking others? Well, if you consider well laid-out arguments to be attacking....then yes, she is attacking...

As for Jen being judgmental, Which is more judgmental, the girl who quotes the Bible, or the troll who calls her sheltered and isolated?

AXIS OF TROLLS: REPUBLICANS R BAD!!!!

Sidenote: I don't think I'll even list the responses to this... It's quite obvious that the trolls have trouble even staying on one topic. And defending that topic. And making valid points on any topic, whether it's the topic at hand or not. Why embarrass them with out responses?

At this point, Jen decides to delete offensive comments.

AXIS OF TROLLS: Wow, Jen is SO IMMATURE! She's not really deleting comments because they're offensive, she's deleting them because she can't answer them! QUACK QUACK QUACK!!! AND DON'T FORGET THAT SHE'S SPEWING CHRISTIAN HATE!!!

ALLIED BLOGGING BODYGUARDS: This is pathetic... you guys keep attacking Jen with nothing to back up your supposed "arguments!"

And you haven't even refuted anything we've said thus far, unless "nuh-uh" counts as a refutation!

And who are you to lecture Jen about maturity? You are the ones who sought out a teenage girl just to tell her how sheltered, hateful, and immature she is, even though you can cite no proof to back up your arguments. Very mature indeed. I think it's quite obvious that rational conversation is well beyond your grasp.

-----------------

I don't believe I'll go any further... The trolls have contributed nothing to this conversation. They have sought out a teenage girl to attack, which signals instability, and they have NOT backed up their attacks, which signals stupidity.

I move that all further trollish comments on this thread be deleted without warning; they have proven themselves to be incapable of rational thought, not based on their opinions, but based on their inability to put together a halfway-coherent argument. And yet they persist in arguing, signaling insanity.

It is impossible to converse with these individuals, so their comments should be deleted. Their willful ignorance has been tolerated long enough.

Well, as you can imagine, I don't really have time to answer all 60-something comments right now, even if my life had slowed down a little. I am, as emily said, occupied by dance class, work, violin class, economic dev. meetings, homeschool coops, and today we went to a Navigators women's conference (Christian), so hopefully you can view that as "getting out" into the world. I may not be just as "sheltered" as you think.

I delete comments because 1 they are rude, offensive and just plain silly, 2 they do not present any intelligent conversation or argument that I care to, or have time to respond to. Many thanks to my supporters; it's amazing for me to see how much time you spend over here speaking up for me! I really appreciate it. (Neo; I don't think I would speak as clearly as you do at 11:30pm; I'm bad enough at 8:00.)

I would respond to these comments if I had time, or if I thought Neo and MVB had not responded well enough, which I think they have.

But hear this; I will, and do actively defend my faith. Every day, as I meet new people or interact with friends and family, I am constantly defending and learning more about faith and God. One of the subjects in our school is religion; I especially enjoyed the book "Unveiling Islam", which, as you can imagine, says a good deal about Muslims and the Islamic religion.

One of the ideas that (conservative) Christians hold to is that we are always learning. Until we die, we never stop seeking, asking, learning... our very nation was founded upon such beliefs... do you know why you live in America, free to express yor opinions? It is because a group of people devoted to God, who were being persecuted because of their faith, made the painful move and transition to the wild of a new country and laid the foundations upon which you stand. You work to tear down those foundations, and you will quickly find yourselves without a home, name or future. Like it or not, you live in a Christian nation, and you will regret the pains you have taken to disregard the freedoms you have been given.

May TRUE freedom ring... as it does in the hearts of all true patriots.

God bless America.

22 While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him."

23 The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing. 24 Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But to this man, don't do such a disgraceful thing."

25 But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go. 26 At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.

27 When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold. 28 He said to her, "Get up; let's go." But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.

29 When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel. 30 Everyone who saw it said, "Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Think about it! Consider it! Tell us what to do!"

From Judges 19:22-30 -- ok, what's the point of this story Bible girl?? this is the crap that's in the bible, rape and sacrifice? awful
