Memories...
How many have forgotten
And which of you remember?
Of the day our nation cried for help
On the eleventh of September…
Do you remember panic
As they all ran for their lives?
Do you remember listening
To the screams and painful cries?
It’s so easy for America
To lose our memory
Of the painful things that taught us lessons
Or the angry, raging sea.
I’m asking you if you still feel
A pulling in your heart
When you think of all the pain that day
And how our prayers start.
It’s funny what it takes
To bring a nation to it’s knees;
And is it really necessary
To lose thousands on the scenes?
Oh please! If you know how to pray
Then cry out to our Lord!
And pray that we would find a way
To gain healing through His sword.
If I had one wish for that day
That caused so many pain,
I would not contradict God’s will;
No I couldn’t change a thing.
Call me cruel and close minded
But can’t you look and see?
That though the past has pain involved
It’s more than pain to me.
It’s the hope that we can always find
In life that our Lord spares;
It’s knowing that the sun will shine
In spite of all our cares.
It’s sad to see a nation
So hurt by such a cost
But the saddest thing of 9/11
Are the memories we’ve lost.
Remember September 11th...
