Right Now

Even as I sit here
And quickly type this poem
Someone else doing the same
In another simple home.

Some other girl about my age
Who stands about 5”3
Is sitting half a world away
And thinking just like me.

It’s amazing when I stop to think
Of people far away;
The significance of every moment
In their actions every day.

Right now someone is dying
And a baby is being born;
Right now a person just found God
While someone is being torn.

Just at this moment (they are so many)
A soldier saved a life;
While a family sadly mourns the loss
Of a another lost to strife.

The victories and losses
The pain and jubilee
Is constantly surrounding us
In a world that’s hardly free.

We rarely stop to notice
How the stars touch all the earth
And how the sun always shines it’s rays
On people of different birth.

As I commence my writing
I know someone is doing the same;
They’re once again about their work
And have left those thoughts that came.

I leave you to go back to life
But first I’d like to pray;
For all those about the world tonight
And that God would rule their day.

- This is definitaly NOT one of my best poems... but I haven't been writing for a while so maybe I just need to get back into it.

God bless America!
Jennifer

P.S. If you feel like leaving a nasty comment on my poem please feel free. I had to sit for so long just to come up with words that fit! Arg.

Yes, she is. And I'm a little shorter.

Wow, a poem that with lines that actually rhyme. Whoever came up with "free verse" was an idiot.

As for being short, my sister is 5'0" and she's 16 and almost certainly done growing.

Terrible, NO WAY. Terrific and Touching, YES!

And don't feel bad about being 5'3". I'm 17 and only 5'4". I don't think I'm going to grow anymore! You've still got a chance. ;)
