It's me!

I’m cold. I’m here at the fitness center. I know, I should just work out. And I probably need it too. Oh well. I am going to dance in a couple of hours.

TWO DAYS INTIL THE RECITAL!!! Excitement mounting… along with fear, passion, anticipation, nervousness, unease, giddiness, panic… and you get the idea.

You know what REALLY irks me? Picture this; I’m sitting here typing for a full fifteen minutes (which is precious long time when you have an older sister) writing my little heart out, just pouring out my most intelligent thoughts (don’t laugh) and finally click “post”. A second later all my work is lost because of my bad memory; in an attempt to cut down our minutes on the internet I had disconnected… OH IF I COULD SWEAR! But I don’t (other than the occasional “darn” which always brings some nasty looks from my sister) and am civilized enough not to scream. But I’ll rant. And fume… and… *sigh*.

A lot has been happening (of course the closest to my recital it gets the more things come up that make me feel more panicky). I got a letter from our small town’s newspaper editor asking me to write in an upcoming issue. That was pretty cool because home schoolers are not asked to write very often… PRESSURE’S ON!

Emi (this is also really cool) got a letter from a soldier in Iraq who we had sent some books and stuff to. He wrote a really nice, long letter and has a good sense of humor. That was so nice!

Well, would you look at that; I wrote and didn’t lose it! That’s a good thing because one more post lost and I would go berserk. I mean, everyone knows I am crazy…

Better go now before I freak somebody out. I’ll try to post something intelligent next time!

"They hired some Hispanics to do it and I am pretty sure they are illegal immigrants."

curious - what makes you think they are "illegal?" have you discussed their immigration status with them? simply because they're Hispanic? this is a perfect example of you being young and naive.

You cannot judge whether a person is "illegal" simply based on the color of their skin or their ethnic background.

Now i don't think that is totaly fair to jennifer who ever you are. i really don't think jennifer would judge people just because they have a different color skin (and i know jennifer well). We all have different ethnic backrounds, I am IRISH (and proud of it)!!!!!! german and a little french but that dosen't make me any different then the hispanics does it?? We all have feelings. Jennifer knows that as much as the next person and *trying to keep calm here* maybe your the one who is being to quick to judge others!

I didn't judge anyone - i'm just asking why she's assuming they're illegal.

if you are going to keep the conversation going, drop the name calling and stick to the facts.

most of what I said there was partly in jest and I was not judging them. now I have been told that they are probably just visiting the state for the summer to work. I may have been to quick to assume but was not judging them personally. it's the government giving free money to them that I have a problem with, not to mention our open borders which terrorists could easily slip by. do you have a problem with that? but of course terrorists are people too and I suppose I shouldn't be judging them...

skin color or backround has nothing to do with it. charector and intentions DO.

you think its funny to joke about hispanic people being here illegally? what is funny about that?

Well to you, it clearly IS about skin color and ethnicity because that's the context in which YOU raised the issue - they're hispanic and "I'm pretty sure they are illegal immigrants" - that was your statement.

its sad that this is how you see the world. Spend a day on the New York subway - you'll hear a mulititude of different languanges, see people of various races, religions, ethnicities - and most of them are LEGAL citizens of this nation.

Excuse me but when, may i ask did she say she thought it was funny or a joke???

My goodness anonymous, don't you have anything to do but post on my sister's blog? She deleted your post because she thought it was rude and it is her right to do so.
Perhaps if you would not be so arrogant in assuming that your worldview is totally correct, and that ours is wrong, she would not delete your posts. We are open to polite dicussions that are intelligent, objective, and aducational. Your name calling strikes me as being more immature then my sister's deleting posts.

nothing about it was name calling - she is the one calling these indigent workers "illegal" - that's name calling.

i posted a definition of the word "jest" she used, which, yes, I found to be offensive in the manner in which it was used. And again - the position of deleting posts which challenge your beliefs just evidences how unwilling you are to consider the ramifications of what you say. that's unfortunate. but out of respect to you and your family, i will refrain from leaving messages on this site.

and though i may disagree with you and the generalizations you make - i don't doubt that you are an intelligent enough young woman that you will learn with age and exposure to others.

no, keep commenting. my mom wants to get in on the conversation. but I do call "naive" and "close-minded" name calling. just drop that stuff and I won't have to delete your comments.

I have always given you a direct answer to your points, which is proof that I actually read your comments and thought about them.

and I have to disagree with you on the challenge part; i haven't found any of your points very challenging, and notice how once I have given my answer you find something off the subject to talk about.

I have no problem with people, or their skin color. I have thourougly enjoyed meeting Asians and middle easterns and learning about how we can all be different. I love having Koreans over to stay the summer at our house; they are so polite and fit in with our family well. I am proud of my birthplace, just because Japan is a different culture than here and for the most part the people are friendly and polite. I love the Iraqi people with all my heart and would go to Iraq right now and minister to the women if my dad would let me. I like how black people will come up to you and just start talking; a lot of the older guys come across to me as jolly and extremely friendly. I have nothing against Hispanics and am glad for the ones who legally start a new life in a better place. And I love my fellow Americans. no two people on this earth are the same, and I am sure once I leave home I will get a broader view of the world, but I am firm in the belief that I will not lose the faith and ideas that my parents have planted strongly in me, what they believe is true and is what God wants them to teach me.

as for judging people according by looks, I am sorry if I have done so (and I am sure I have) but I will strive more in the future to look past the physical body and focus on their charecter.

cheers to those who; always strive to do and think what is right, keep open ears, eyes and mind to truths they have passed up, and who always seek to bring Glory to the Creator of all things.

Seeking,
Jennifer

sorry need to just clarify what I meant on that one line their;

I am firm in the belief that I will not lose the faith and ideas that my parents have planted strongly in me, and that what they believe is true and is what God wants them to teach me.

sorry about that.
