Fired up! Thanks!
I have been getting some rude anonymous comments (bound to happen sometime with me getting so famous and all; ha ha :) lately and left my answer by them. I didn't delete them so those who are interested can get in on the conversation... or rather debate, on homeschooling, the war, etc. But the comments got me fired up (in a good way) over our country and my beliefs... I can't let myself forget this is MY blog and I can post whatever I want to. (Well, as long as my parents approve). A thought just also came to me just now; I was reading in "what if America were a Christian nation again" by D.J. Kennedy a while ago (I know... meant to post this a month ago but you know me; lazy blogger that I am) and this point stood our to me; non-believers or people who simply have different views are won over by our love. Now, I know what you're thinking. But if you read in the bible, numerous times love towards our enemies are mentioned. You know that song; "they will know we are Christians by our love". So true! Because hurting, messed up people who reject and won't even think about our views are in denial because of the hate they have experienced; maybe in family experiences, work, etc. but when they see that we love them and hate their sin and tormenter... of course that's what we're told all the time; love your neighbor as your self, love your enemy... but I'll admit it, this is the first time it really struck me. I know I'm slow! But it's fun to see how God's word just comes to light all of sudden when applied to our everyday lives.
Arms are aching from all this typing... I need to work out more! :)
I have been anxious about our recital so today I resolved to say aloud; "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" every time I think about it. Hey girls; try it I'm sure it'll work!
conquering in Christ,
Jennifer

Letting the Lord be your strength...Wow. I am very impressed at your attitude. You continue to impress me. We need more kids like you in this country. Plus, I am sure your recital will go very well.
I also have problems with hateful comments. Just remember a few things..
Everyone has their critics, and they can be rude and immature. Do not let them affect you, for that is exactly what they are trying to do.
Don't let them stop your writing. Or your singing, or your dancing, or whatever. Have a thick skin.
finally, and I don't get the impression that you would, but DO NOT sink to their level. Take the high road, and you will be fine. Let them founder in their own folly.
the comments are not hateful simply because they express a different belief. Further, while you are an articulate and intelligent young womean - you live in a very homogenous isolated part of the world. Also - it is possible to be an American and NOT be a Christian - that's my point.
thanks MDG. this guy (or gal) has said several things about Iraq on my "why we are at war" post. care to make any comments? they need to hear from someone who is really over there...
to you anonymous; you certainly give me plenty to reply about. but the longer this goes on, the meaningless it gets. you clearly have not even paused to consider what I have said and therefore I see the conversation pointless. as for the one who has been close-minded and shallow-viewed, I'll leave you to ponder on that one. but I am not prone to reply nicely to accusations and rude remarks from a stranger who hides behind being anonymous.
May America prosper!
You sound like you're having a wonderful life -- as it should be. Obviously your parents put a lot of time and effort into their kids. When you go on to college or otherwise out into the world, you'll meet others who don't share your world view. They're not bad people, just different.
As a Christian, I study the denominational friction and stresses within our own belief system. When you read history, you realize how often Christians were willing to kill one another for their (Christian) differences. People died because they thought differently, even though they believed in the same God their killers did.
That's why "conquering" anything, including ourselves, for Christ can be a deflection from whatever it is that we are sent here to do; whatever our vocation or calling is. Christ is not a warrior, he's a healer.
I have atheist friends; having established our beliefs, we leave them aside in maintaining our relationship. Does the belief/unbelief wall separate us? Of course. But I wouldn't give up those friends any more than I would my Jewish ones. Or the Hindus down the road who live in their ashram and have a totally different view of why we're here -- or even how many times we've been here!
Anyway, I came over to read about you because I just finished writing a post about a young girl who was married off when she was 11 and had two babies by the time she was 14. I needed to read about someone having a good time!
Sounds like you are.

I just read that verse while I was doing my quiet time today!!! Philipians 4:13... That is a good verse to remember!!! Thanks for reminding me!!! It made me feel ALOT better about the recital!! Thanks for the encouragement!! Oh yeah... and I agree with what Aly said!!!
Oh for goodness sakes.
Some people seems to think that Jen is a very serious grown up young lady.
WAHAHAHAHA.
This is a common misconception.
She is actually extremely ornrey. Just this morning she was sitting across the table making faces at me while eating chocolate. She likes to torture our youngest brother by holding him over our nice, toasty, wood-burning stove, and by chasing him with the vacum cleaner. Don't worry people, she won't grow up for a long while yet.
E.D.- Jen's older sister.
okay so I was reading that last comment thinking it was from Mr. Anonymous and going "what"? but no. that's my sister. she made me promise not to delete it and; loving sister that I am, I just can't. :0
now don't take her too seriously; she's just as crazy as I am. Jeremy really likes me playing with him and it's really not torture. but I do like chocolate; she got that right. but just about everything else had a twist... so there Em and I am NOT telling you my password! Ha ha!
I disagree with a commenter who stated Anonymous is not making attacks. By stating "you are a naive and closed-minded child" Anonymous is clearly making an attack. He's attempting to impugn your integrity and rile you up by stooping to the immature act of name-calling. You, however, have shown great maturity by responding with calm, intellegent answers to a commenter who seems more focused on provocation. Great job for taking the high-road!
Also, I'm impressed with your blog and find it hard to believe that someone three years younger than me can right so well.
thanks. that was encouraging because I did get rather upset and thought maybe I had been to quick to answer.
I had responded to this last comment but it never showed up. dumb computer!
thanks for your comment! and you guys need to start blogs so I can go to them... we need more good bloggers!
