DEATH TO NEWSWEEK
I have been searching for an article on the dumb and life-costly "mistake" newsweek made in the flushing the Koran down the toilet case... of course it was on the news last night but when I look on the internet now... you would think it would be all over; THIS SO CALLED MISTAKE COST LIVES BECAUSE OF A DUMB REPORTERS HASTINESS TO BRING DOWN AMERICA. Well, not even World Magazine has it so it must be too early. I was hoping I wouldn't have to explain it myself but... THROUGH MY SHEER ANGER I WILL DIG DEEP DOWN INTO MYSELF AND BRING OUT THAT REPORTER THAT ONLY WILL BE SEEN IN TIMES OF EXTREME ANGER... oh never mind; I found it;
Newsweek says Koran desecration report is wrong

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
Newsweek magazine said on Sunday it erred in a May 9 report that U.S. interrogators desecrated the Koran at Guantanamo Bay, and apologized to the victims of deadly Muslim protests sparked by the article.
Editor Mark Whitaker said the magazine inaccurately reported that U.S. military investigators had confirmed that personnel at the detention facility in Cuba had flushed the Muslim holy book down the toilet.
The report sparked angry and violent protests across the Muslim world from Afghanistan, where 16 were killed and more than 100 injured, to Pakistan to Indonesia to Gaza. In the past week it was condemned in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Malaysia and by the Arab League.
On Sunday, Afghan Muslim clerics threatened to call for a holy war against the United States.
"We regret that we got any part of our story wrong, and extend our sympathies to victims of the violence and to the U.S. soldiers caught in its midst," Whitaker wrote in the magazine's latest issue, due to appear on U.S. newsstands on Monday.
The weekly news magazine said in its May 23 edition that the information had come from a "knowledgeable government source" who told Newsweek that a military report on abuse at Guantanamo Bay said interrogators flushed at least one copy of the Koran down a toilet in a bid to make detainees talk.
But Newsweek said the source later told the magazine he could not be certain he had seen an account of the Koran incident in the military report and that it might have been in other investigative documents or drafts.
Whitaker told Reuters that Newsweek did not know if the reported toilet incident involving the Koran ever occurred. "As to whether anything like this happened, we just don't know," he said in an interview. "We're not saying it absolutely happened but we can't say that it absolutely didn't happen either."
INCIDENT UNDER INVESTIGATION
The acknowledgment by the magazine came amid heightened scrutiny of the U.S. media, which has seen a rash of news organizations fire reporters and admit that stories were fabricated or plagiarized.
The Pentagon told the magazine the report was wrong last Friday, saying it had investigated earlier allegations of Koran desecration from detainees and found them "not credible." Continued ...
-Now they are saying that a prisoner instead flushed the Koran down the toilet to stop up the toilet in protest of something. Mom was really upset (as were all of us) and we all think Newsweek should be severally punished. Lives were lost here; that's how sick, disgusting and low our mainstream media has gotten.

Maybe not "death" to Newsweek, but maybe a good square kick to the groin area. Maybe this flagrant error on a MAJOR player in the MSM will give them a good wakeup call.
Come to think of it, i am gonna write a post about this. But i am gonna sleep first, it's like 2am.
Again, superb writing and observations on your part, Jen. And CONGRATS on a successful recital. The pics were wonderful.
And don't forget to lemme know about when your piece gets published.
Mike
I don't think we need newsweek anyway. I never read it- I get most of my newsy details from blogs. You certainly can't trust anything the MSM says.
E.D.
they never actually told me they were going to publish my article but they asked me to write it in the first place so they should. Yeah quit commenting and get to bed! :o Thanks anyway but I'd rather the protectors of our country took care of themselves. I'll be praying!!!
Up and well rested...my new post on Newsweek is up. Hope you like it.
Obviously, two people are at fault here: Newsweek, for doing a sloppy reporting job regarding a very volatile and reactionary religion (radical Islam), and also the Muslims themselves, for being so violent and reactionary.
Flush a Bible down the toilet, see what the Christians do. Not to say we don't respect our holy book, but I highly doubt that there would be riots, and no one would die if a Muslim flushed the Bible.
Wahabbi dogs.
Jennifer, have you ever been to WorldMagBlog? They've been following this story on there...
I don't read their blog as much; it's so intelligent it's scary. :) but they've got a great magazine!!!
Good point, Neo. Where is the media outrage that the Muslims are so volatile and infantile?
