Celebrating the past!
I was thinking of refusing to write until I got more comments on my surprisingly unique and interesting report of Karzai's visit to my state! But I see I have gotten a few more comments so...
Oh dear. Memorial day snuck up on me unprepared... I will have to quickly think up a poem. It's nice; if you can't get to town or get involved on a holiday, you can always read the awesome milblogs or post yourself and get involved in that way.
There has been a lot of criticism (who's surprised?) from the liberal media lately concerning military recruiters. I guess some recruiters are desperate to bring in new guys and deceived some people about Army life, pay etc. My guess is that, as always, the media is more proposing pandemonium and panic because oh my gosh; look at our failing military. We shall all be slain in our beds this night; someone made a mistake. There are military personnel who would go to the extreme to make their lives more comfortable... but give us a percentage please? An accurate one? Remind me again how many selfless men and women are over in Iraq, Afghanistan and all over the world fighting for our freedom? No; for the most part, I think the military keeps it's troops too busy to even think of their own comfort. We all make mistakes, as Newsweek (and all the major liberal media for that matter) has shown us. Just do the world a favor and quit picking on those organizations more humble and honorable than you. Soooo... watching then go to recruiters and interview them... I got this crazy idea that I could go to our nearest recruiting station and interview some guys myself on how they feel about all this talk and what is actually going on. Mom and dad didn't discourage me and Em just said I would be brave to do it and most likely mess up; I think it will be a while until I actually get the courage to walk up to any recruiter period...
Oh yeah; John wrote!!!! He is with the Texas Marines. He sent us a nice letter along with three realy nice, big pictures of him in Iraq. Thanks John!!!
And thank you to our veterans; God bless you!
Jennifer
