dance recital! (heart rate going up here)
I woke up this morning thinking of our upcoming dance recital. I guess the thing on my mind was every dancers nightmare; forgetting your shoes or costume or something. Oh well. We'll just have to see how it goes...
Yesterday I went with mom to the Fitness Center. That place could put you to sleep; if you're not working out! We try to save money on our heating bills so it's always a tad chilly there. And if it's one of those quiet days when no one comes in... well, I get really sleepy. So I sat there doing math, shivering and drinking outdated juice from our pop machine. Yep, no need to waste bad food when you've got kids! :)
We have had reports of a rabid skunk hanging around our place for a while now. (Emi and I are terrified of rabies since "Old Yeller"...) We thought we saw Pongo, our dalmation with something black in his mouth and smelled skunk around the house. Well, the little boys seemed eager to dispose of Pongo as soon as possible before he gets rabies but dad doesn't think it was a skunk he had. Needless to say, it was all very dramatic and emotional for those of us who cry at the tiniest things and like our faithful dog (uh, that would be me).
I'm going to go over my "why we are at war" report and send it in to our town's newspaper to see if the editor will print it...
God bless America!
Jennifer

Good luck on your recital!
I watched "Old Yeller" as a kid too. That was a "very" long time ago. I cried throughout the whole movie.
When I was in my 20's one of my dog's killed a bat. My roommate threw it in the trash and the trash man carried it away. For 14 months after that I had to keep my dogs up.
Every day when I came home from work I would check on the dogs. First I knocked on the door to their room to see if I heard any "growls!"
I was so glad when the 14 months were over. But, it took me quite a while after that to relax around them or any pet totally.
But I never regretted my decision to not have them "put to sleep."
Isn't it strange how something like that movie or some other childhood experience can have such a profound effect on our life?
Enjoy your life and all the many experiences you will have. Be true to your self and your dreams, but don't be afraid of new things if they don't conflict with that little voice inside you that tells you what to do.
Appreciate your mom and dad. It seems they have done a really great job. You are an amazing young lady. I am sure they are very proud of you.
(My head must not be screwed on tight tonight)...
Jennifer,
Good luck on your recital. (I need to make a correction. I said Dec. 7, 1942 and it actually was 1941. My bad. I should have known that.) Any way, good luck and watch out for those rabid skunks. :)

thanks for the story; yeah, TV makes a lot of impact on peoples lives. sad, almost because a lot on TV isn't worth watching! we usually watch movies. and 14 months??? wow that's a long time. sad.
thanks!
I like your post name... it's funny!!! Oh... and don't worry, the recital will go FINE!!!
Hey, Jen, Good luck on the dance recital. Make sure you put some photos up. I am sure you will do great!! oh, and if you want to, go and listen to the interview I gave to National Public Radio, at On The Media. It is on the piece "I wanna be a Soldier Blogger".
Dance Well,
Mike
You'll do fine in your recital. Even if you miss a step, you'll still do fine. The way these things work is that everyone there will be watching THEIR kid so much that nobody will notice any minor mistake you make, right?
About Pongo, as long as he(?) had current shots, no problem. That's the whole point of vaccinations.
OT, you've got to convince your folks to move to Arizona so I can hook you up with my oldest grandson. We don't have near enough bright and beautiful girls in the family.
MDG; I tried to listen to your interview but our computer is too slow; something wouldn't let me. :((((( but that's really cool!
oh and Peter; I'll be lucky if I get married at all; my dad is pretty protective. two girls out of five boys... I may never go to college for that matter. :) sad thought...
I think I need to refrase what I just said; my dad is not overly- protective at all. just in a loving way. :) just had to clarify that.
